Best Companies - are they for you??

We know, statistically, there are more small companies (employing fewer than 100 people) in America than large. During tough economic times small, flexible, companies can provide career opportunities for those who find themselves in an on-the-job-search-hunt. That's the good news. The other news is: the benefit package of many smaller companies is slim to none. Why? They can't afford the collective costs for their employees. This is truly a Catch-22 for both sides. And I do not see a good soluti… Continue

Get Back This Week, This Month, This Year!

Forty-one years ago this week, the Beatles played their famous last concert on the roof of their London headquarters. The Beatles were a mess in that January of 1969. The recording of an album tentatively titled 'Get Back' was meant to be a 'back to the basics' return to their roots, but personal problems between the Beatles escalated and culminated in George Harrison's walking out on the band. After letting feelings calm down a bit, they got together again towards the end of the month at their… Continue

Grow your business with your own Money Tree

Some time ago, I was task to completely revise the marketing strategy for a company I worked for. So like so many others, I read everything, books, blogs, magazines, you name it. What did I end up with? Lots of great ideas but a pile of notes that offered nothing except confusion. So I came up with the money tree system, I organized my notes first by the basics, the others three Rs(3Rs) of staffing.

The Boogey Man, is he real or all in your head?

Many people I have trained in sales seemed to be scared of going in front of clients. They think or I should say imagine that when the door opens, there stands the Boogey man!! They get nervous, very soft spoken and passive. They almost freeze to some degree.

Now, I know, the mind is very powerful. I understand being scared, its natural and not your fault. Our childhood, genes and training all play into our perception of what we fill and imagine.

So I`m going to give you some powerful and effe… Continue

Interesting Results from Conference Board Research -- Most Americans are NOT Satisfied With Their Work

Even Americans who are lucky enough to have work in this economy are becoming more unhappy with their jobs, according to a new survey that found only 45% of Americans are satisfied with their work.

That was the lowest level ever recorded by the Conference Board research group in more than 22 years of studying the issue. In 2008, 49 percent of those surveyed reported satisfaction with their jobs.

The drop in workers' happiness can be partly blamed on the worst recession since the 1930s, which m… Continue

Uptick in Executive Jobs Seen for 2010
By SARAH E. NEEDLEMAN
Recruiters are bullish on the outlook for executive-level job hunters in 2010.
Slightly more than half of 153 recruiters surveyed earlier this month said they expect a 19% rise in executive search assignments during the first half of 2010, reports ExecuNet, a networking organization for recruiters and executives. That's the largest percentage increase since early 2008.
